When I am missing home all I need to do is go to the mall and I know that they will be playing music from home. It was actually music from the 90's and early 2000's, but it did the job. There were also some other places that I visited when I got homesick. Here are a few:
I visited Papa Johns a couple times and discovered that it is way more delicious made in Russia. They also treat it like a fancy restaurant with low lighting, leather booths and fancy silverware. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo Pizza every time! It was also a little more expensive.
Although I didn't spend the money on Starbucks, I did try Dunkn' Donuts a few times. It was a little more expensive. But they don't have donuts anywhere in Russia so when I craved a donut I had to hit up DnD... I even found a Krispy Kreme:)
Auntie Annie's and Cinnabon was a yummy treat. Once again it was more expensive.
A few times I went to the Hard Rock for their International Nights and met with the coolest people from around the world. Every time I went though, my roommate and I happened to be the only Americans there. It was a great place to practice my Russian.
Of course the great empire of McDonald's made it to Russia. Not only to Russia, but all over it! I only went there a few times with friends, but there was always a line. The Russians love McDonald's too! I was about the same price and they had a burger called the Big Tasty that I liked.
My roommate brought me a mini Nutella from Hungary. It was so delicious!
Just giving you guys a look into the vending machine at school. This was one of the times that it wasn't broken and I remember getting a Bueno bar and a Lipton tea for about $1.
There weren't many times that I was homesick, but when I was I could always count on American chains to make me feel better.
